Annual General Meeting:
A Focus on Safety and Security within Cooksville

On February 20, 2025, Cooksville BIA hosted its Annual General Meeting, shining a spotlight on the crucial topic of Safety and Security. The event was an invaluable opportunity for property owners and business operators to engage directly with Peel Police. They shared insightful information and practical safety tips on securing properties and robbery prevention. Attendees were introduced to new tools and resources, such as the interactive presentation available here, designed to enhance our community's security and well being. A special thank you to Superintendent Harry Dhillon, Contstable Michael Wood, and the teams from both 11 and 12 Divisions for taking the time to meet and educate our community.

The meeting was not only a platform for sharing valuable safety tips and resources but also highlighted our community's ongoing efforts in beautification and event planning, as remarked by Ward 7 Councillor, Dipika Damerla and Executive Director, Anna Mikus. Their insights emphasized the importance of enhancing our neighborhood's aesthetic and vibrancy through active community engagement.

Our board chair, Tony Nguyen, encouraged members of our community to get more involved within the Cooksville BIA by joining various subcommittees. Whether your interest lies in events, beautification initatives or safety and security; there are lots of opportunities for you to get involved within the BIA. Participation in these committees is open to everyone, not just board members. The Cooksville BIA is a  welcoming space for all, where we celebrate collaboration, inclusion, and diversity.

We encourage all interested individuals to stop by our office at 3025 Hurontario St, Suite 104B, to meet Anna, our Executive Director, to learn more about how you can make a significant impact within Cooksville. Together, we can continue to foster a safe and thriving environment for all our members and the broader community.
