All About the Dundas BRT & the Hazel McCallion LRT
Metrolinx, in collaboration with the City of Mississauga, is continuing to advance planning for the Dundas Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
The proposed Dundas BRT project would bring 48 kilometres of fast, frequent bus rapid transit along Dundas Street from Highway 6 in the City of Hamilton through to the Kipling Transit Hub in the City of Toronto, linking Etobicoke and Mississauga City Centres.
More than 20 kilometres of the project would operate in bus lanes or in a dedicated right-of-way, separate from other traffic, allowing faster and more reliable transit connections.
Metrolinx is naming the Hurontario light rail transit (LRT) project as the Hazel McCallion Line, to remember the former Mississauga mayor this newly built LRT project will help by:
The 18km LRT will bring an easy and reliable method of transportation in the area
New transit system will have 19 stops and connecting with important transit systems like GO transit,ZUM and Miway for both Mississauga and Brampton
Dedicate its own lane ensuring safe and smooth operation for daily riders
